Please Please Help with sms

I have the Epic and have been using sms pop up and have not really had any problems but my friend showed me that she uses handcent. I really like all the options it has on it however when I downloaded it I still get the message in my default as well. I have unistalled sms pop up and have disabled everything on my default. I have even tried unistalling beautiful widgets (which someone had replied to someone else to do) Well that didn't work either lol. I am not very smart when it comes to like rooting and all that so I don't understand a lot of what people have suggested to others. Just wondering if there is something simple I am doing wrong. I have even uninstalled and installed it like three times and am at my wits end. Please if someone has any ideas HELP ME. :D Thanks.
I am also fairly new on here so hope I didn't leave anything out.:confused:
 
I am not sure what your exact problem is:

1) you get a copy of the message in both handcent and the built-in message app? that's no problem, you just ignore the built-in app

2) You get notifications for both? One pop-up for handcent and one notification for the built-in app? Just turn off notifications within the built-in message app
 
I get both the pop up and the at the top. I have turned off all notifications on the default sms and still getting same. :(
 
Yes thanks, I went to Sprint and they kinda helped me. The messages still go to my default message thing but don't pop up for that. Thanks for your help. :)
