Please post your physical drop experience here.

I'd very much like to hear how well the droid razr hd and max hd handled physical drops. You know, I dropped it from my lap and the screen smashed into a thousand pieces or it fell 10 stories without a scratch type of reports.

Please post your experience both good and bad in this thread.

It'll help some of us decide on whether or not to buy this phone.

Thanks to all who post.

I have a silicone case on mine and dropped it on concrete from about 5'. It hit on the side and landed screen-down. The phone is undamaged, though the silicone case has some scars now.

I keep the case on when I'm outside to avoid clumsy, expense developments. I haven't dropped it without the case.

I was on a ladder three stories up. My Maxx HD slipped out of my pocket and began its free fall. The phone was about a foot from the ground and started to glow bright blue.

My Maxx proceeded to hover there for a minute then shot right back up to my face! A virtual hand came out and pimp slapped me! Then in the DROIIIIID voice it warned me to never do that again!

Seriously, Haven't dropped it yet hope I never do. :P

Dropped it without a case onto my wood floors in the house from waist height.... Has a small discoloration on the bottom corner of the "kevlar" that looks kinda white... I guess the cops better watch out, if it can't handle a small drop how is it gonna stop a bullet? Lol

Great! I'm the first idiot to do it. i just dropped it getting out of my car. The stupid pants I have on today have shallow pockets. And it landed right on the top left corner. Onto tar or asphalt. it's scratched pretty good. I like my phones perfect so now I'm Pissed!!!!!! The storage card thing popped open also. I knew I should of got a case.

Sorry about your incedent.
Sounds like it did not shatter....which is a good thing.

Speaking of cases, have you seen any good ones for this model? Might be a bit early still.

Jinxed myself. I was scrubbing walls down in the rental house and I guess it made my hands less grippy? If that's a word. I was walking out to my truck and it felt like it flew out of my hand.

It hit just the edge of the sidewalk striking the top left corner on the Kevlar side. It proceeded to bounce end over end two or three times on the grass landing screen down.

I picked it up and cleaned it off with my t-shirt. It had a white scuff on the corner. I spit on it and rubbed hard with my shirt hoping. It came off and absolutely no scratches or marks. THANK GOODNESS

I dropped mine a few times so far. The worse thing thats happened is it rebooted once. If the kevlar doesnt get scratched too deep or bad, any scratch on it should just rub off.

I stopped using cases and screen protectors when I had the Droid 1. Some of my phones survived, some didnt...

These drop stories ...I dont think they will help. 2 ppl can have the same exact phone.....one falls a certain way and shatters, one falls and is fine.

If we're only looking at 2 examples, then I'd have to agree with you.

As we gain more experience, we should be able to find a pattern that tells us if this phone is subject to shattered screens from head heigth drop or if we're reasonably safe from most if not all drops.

Given that this isn't a first generation design, I'd like to think that Motorola made an effort to make them more resistant to breakage......but who knows?

Dropped mine this morning, twice in a row, trying to turn off the alarm. It was about 5' to wood floor with silicone case. No scratch, no reboot or anything. I really like the silicone case from the big red store, thin and somewhat shock absorbing.
