If you want to do it manually, I made a tutorial for doing so. However, if you're getting a checksum mismatch, then it likely means your download is corrupt. I would try redownloading the factory image and make sure you downloaded the correct one. Trying to flash a tilapia image to grouper or the other way around would be bad.

ok so ive bben messing around a little bit with it trying to wipe different things such as the dalvik cache and the regular cache. now when i try to wipe the dalvik cache i get this message.
W:failed to mount /dev/block/platform/sdhci-tegra.3/by-name/uda (invalid argument
I: cant format unknown volume: ?emmc
I: cant format unkown volume: /external_sd
I:cant partition non vfat: Datamedia
W: cant unlink /cache/recovery/command

and then when i try and see the recoverylog through CWm I GET THIS MESSAGE

E: cant mount /cache/recovery/command
E: cant mount /cache/recovery/log

so my sd card is not mounting itself i guess....wtf?

Okay so i have sdk manager and the drivers are located deep within the folder sdk/extras/google/usb_drivers. i placed the factory image in that folder and opened command prompt in that window but when i type "fastboot Devices" i get the following message

'fastboot' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable batch file or program.

all my toolkits recognize my device in fastboot so i dont really know what to do next

if you're getting that error, it means the command prompt is not executing the fastboot command from inside the folder where the fastboot.exe is located. You will want that file and the .dll s that came with it in the same directory as the factory image as well.

Those are the drivers themselves. Fastboot is a separate file in the sdk. However, that tutorial I linked has a link to get them if you can't find them.

the fastboot files on your link that you provided are the exact ones that i currently have installed and there's no fastboot.exe in those either. am i missing something? im tryin as hard as i can and am determined to fix my device so i appreciate all the help.

@jhawkkw nevermind i found the executable file in rthe mini sdk and currently have my machine detecting my device in fastboot mode through command prompt. im going to try and continue through it. thanks alot. ill keep u posted

okay so i wiped my device but im confused now. the next step is flashing the bootloader. would that be the .tar file that i extracted from the .tzg that i downloaded for my device?

lol ok so i extracted the .tar file into sdk tools directory and found the bootloader .img (bootloader-grouper-4.18) but when i go to flash it i get the following error

error: can not load 'bootloader-grouper-4.18' : no error

It should be in the .tar file that you extracted. There should be 2 or 3 files that extracted out from the .tar. A bootloader, a radio/modem file(if you have tilipia version) and a .zip file.

what command did you use to flash it?

Congrats, glad it's up and running. That's why I love these Nexus devices. As long as they turn on, you can recover from just about anything. Data may not be intact, but you can get it working again.

I had a feeling that you forgot the .img, but just wanted to make sure. But at least you can take pride that you did it the manual way instead of relying on a toolkit to do it for you.

Indeed. Manually is so much better. Thanks jhawkkw for stepping in. I was helping a friend move this morning and was unavailable until now.
