Points of Interest along the route

I was a long time Garmin user. In the last 18 months I've hardly used my Garmin since the Droid is much better at a lot of things.

However, one of the things the Garmin was good at that I haven't figured out how to do on my Droid Incredible is to find Points of Interest along an active route.

Yes, I can find POIs near my current location but if I want to stop for lunch in an hour that doesn't help.

Additionally I could tell my Garmin device not to look for POIs more than 1/2 mile away from my route.

Is there such an app for Google Maps?

I also used to use a Garmin and I'm interested in POIs too. Even more so, I'd like to see the current speed limit on the screen. I used that a lot.

i just realized yesterday that the navigation app in droid does not have a speedometer. how stupid!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think Google Navigation has a nice way of showing POI along the route.
There are other SatNav software that offer this feature.

My car(s) have this thing they call a speedometer built right in the dash

Keep in mind Google NAV is still beta software. It keeps getting better AND it's free
