In regards to being grandfathered in on unlimited data... it would SHOCK me to see existing customers forced into tiered data. Verizon has never done that, not even with the Alltel conversion where some customers get 1400 mins for like $30/mo.
.......................
You could do that, sure. As long as you have unlimited before the switch you should be grandfathered in. Verizon should not force you off of unlimited data. It will be for new customers and feature phone to smartphone upgrades.
...................
The unlimited data is per line, not per account. As long as you have your line and her line with unlimited data prior to tiered data, you'll be fine. I don't believe that you'll be forced off of unlimited even after your NEXT upgrade. Grandfathered means grandfathered.. not temporary.
..........................
I have a hard time believing that there will be different costs for 3G and 4G data. That being said... I think you are just fine. You should be grandfathered regardless on all of your existing lines. The way tiered data will work (to my understanding) is for new customers, new lines of service, or upgrades from Feature Phones to Smartphones once tiered data is introduced.
..........
Again, most of this stuff... you guys hear about before I do (isn't that sad?). Nothing has been mentioned to us, so I assume nothing is concrete.. HOWEVER, I would be willing to bet a lot of money that you can upgrade from 3G to 4G after 7/7 and keep your unlimited data.
......................
Unlimited data is unlimited data, so as long as you have it prior to the change.. you should get to keep it.

Thats what he said, but really it would be bad business to UNgrandfather people and i doubt VZW would risk losing customers AKA money over that.

I think it's gonna be like the NE2, where they'll let customers have one more, then make them change to a tiered plan next time.

This seems like the most likely scenario. And you'll want to be REAL CAREFUL about modifying any of your contract terms.

Not going to happen. NE2 was never grandfathered, it was a program that was being removed. There was never a promise that people on the NE2 program would be "grandfathered".

As a business decision, it would be idiotic for VZW to allow one last upgrade with unlimited data then force into tiered data. Again, I think it'll stay unlimited if you have unlimited.

I've seen some crazy plans that we continue to honor from Alltel, like 3000 mins and unlimited texting for $40 a month.. they are grandfathered in.
