Poor MMS Video Quality

Samsung Captivate. I understand that video files can only be of a certain size to send via messaging. They are horrible in quality though. My wife has an iphone and it seems her mms videos are better quality. Is there a way (android app / software) that will compress / uncompress the files to send by mms?

I've noticed that when I lower the quality on my video so that I can send via MMS, the quality looks horrible on my phone.
However, it looks great on the phone that receives it.

That's been my experience, so I dont worry about it too much.
