Poor night photos with protective cover.

Cadoc

Lurker
I have a protective cover on my device which seems to give me poor/blurred night photos.
Photos taken during the day are perfect.
I know the simple answer is to remove the cover, but it's a bit of a pain to take the cover off every time I want to take a photo at night (with flash) !
Has anyone else had this problem and is their a 'fix' ?
Thanks

Its not the great camera in the world to start with...

...low light perfomance is really hard for cameras anyway...

... Sticking a filter in front of the lens is only going to make things worse.

And a glash from a phone isn't useful at more than a couple of meters anyway.

Have you tried it with the cover on and off to confirm that without the cover the low-light images are noticeably better? I would guess it won't help that much if at all. There are very few phone cameras that can give you decent low-light results.

I have taken the cover off yes, and the resulting photos are much better.
I'm wondering whether to make the hole bigger around the lens and flash (just wondering if the clear cover is having sone kind of an affect on the flash).

Ahh, does the cover not have a hole for the flash? You could be getting some considerable light bleed from the flash. Post a pic if you can.

Here's a pic !

Aah. Well I see what your problem is with the flash. When you enable the LED light is refracted through the clear plastic and glows around the lens causing a heck of a flare and throwing off the adjustment for proper exposure. Try putting a little piece of electrical tape on the inside of the case over the opening for the LED and then cut an X in the tape through the opening and fold the little tabs through the hole. That could effective block the light bleed.
