Poor sound on new Chromecast

Open question for anyone with a Chromcast. Is it common for the sound to get really staticy after about twenty minutes of continuous use? Mine is less than a month old, and has done this since day one. It was a gift to my family from an out of state friend, so I'm hoping it doesn't need to be returned because that's not an option....

How very timely - I've just opened an RMA case with Google about the same thing on mine. I've found a few people talking around the Internet about similar issues, but not many that weren't fixed by a factory reset or software update; naturally, those "fixes" didn't do anything for me.

A reboot seems to clear up the issue for a bit, but it always returns :(

My son casts you tube videos for hours at a time with no audio problems whatsoever, so I don't think it's too common.

I have the exact same behavior from mine. I suppose I'll have to contact Google about it. I just hope they will honor the warranty, as I am not the original purchaser. Thanks for the input!

In case it helps, I did a lot of digging to try and find a good online/email contact. Lots of phone numbers for Google Play support, but I eventually found this: https://support.google.com/googleplay/contact/devices_remorse_return/?ctx=return_email_return

My RMA request was just approved and I should have a new device on my way shortly. Once we went through exactly what the issue is and what troubleshooting steps I had tried, the rep asked for the following info:

- Please provide to me the serial number of the Chromecast which can be found on the device itself or on the box that it came in.
- Where did you purchase this Chromecast?
- Do you still have the receipt / proof of purchase?
- What is the purchase date of the Chromecast?

I purchased mine from Google Play so just provided the order ID, but I imagine they may be able to work with you on getting a replacement done. Hope this info helps :)
