Port cover broke off

well I knew it was only a matter of time before that little door on the bottom of the phone broke off.
Has anyone else had this happen? Did you bother to fix it? If so what did you do to replace the cover?
 
Several of us were discussing this last night. Interesting questions raised.

Does replacing this cover and holding strand yourself void the entire Samsung warranty on the phone? If so, why? If not, why?

Can one just keep the cover in place without that plastic strip holder, and if so, will the warranty be voided?

Is leaving the cover in place, with or without that attachment stand, a requirement of the warranty?

Will the phone still be warrantied if you don't use the USB cover ?

Will you void the Samsung warranty if one uses a non-Samsung replacement cover ?

Unless you're concerned about liquid entry, why bother? Many Androids don't have a USB cover.
