Portable DAC I/O configuration

Lurker
Hey all,
I was wondering if the community was aware of a specific product to fit my needs.

I am looking to do a quick/mobile RTA solution for minor acoustical adjustments using mt Galaxy Note 3. I am looking for a DAC/Interface that is compatible with the USB Audio over Android specification that also allows for audio input (for a reference mic). Time alignment isn't going to be necessary with this application, but I would prefer something at 24bit/96kHz.

Also, something that hosts phantom power would be awesome, but ultimately not an absolute must.

In short, I am looking for a neat and cheap Smaart/Systune alternative. Using a work laptop for friends home theater systems is generally frowned upon.

Many thanks.

I reviewed a ton of audio related stuff in this community (http://androidforums.com/android-accessories/796475-twister-reviews-android-accessories-gadgets.html ), including recent review of HiFimeDIY DAC, but never seen anything that will allow 2-way communication through OTG USB DAC. It's always one way where digital audio inside of your phone bypasses internal analog DAC and outputs it through micro-USB port to external DAC. In some cases, like in review of A200p or E18, you have playback control which goes back to the phone. But never have I seen where you pluggin a headphones with mic/remote to external OTG USB DAC and voice from mic makes it back to the phone, if that what you are looking for?

If you look at this website here: USBAudioRecorderPRO

You will find an apparent list of audio interfaces that work through USB OTG for recording; to me this suggests that the connection works both ways, but it doesn't specify if it does so at the same time. Most of these interfaces are low end home studio interfaces that are meant for both input and output at varying sampling rates. Maybe something like that will work?

Perhaps a different solution that someone with a compatible DAC can try, is testing a mic (crappy iPhone headset mic or otherwise) through the analog port while music is playing from the DAC. If both remain active, perhaps I can still do what I want to do by using a 3.5mm RTTS splitter out the analog to input a mic, and use the DAC out for a higher quality reference signal.

Let me know what y'all think.

Doesn't work. I had Sabre OTG DAC plugged into my Note 2 with headphone connected to it, and had another headphone with in-line remote going to audio jack of Note 2 (meaning to use it's MIC in parallel), and I could only listen to one at a time. As a matter of fact, as soon as headphone was connected to audio jack of N2, external DAC connection was going down. I didn't check that app/driver in your link, but it's designed for OTG DACs, where A200p, E18, and other ones listed as compatible. I don't think it's designed for simultaneous connection of both audio outputs.
