Portable sound for your laptop...

My laptop speakers sound like someone speaking in a cave who is also talking into a tin can, lol. I wanted something portable so I can move around the house, etc. After some quick research I found this to be in my price range and picked it up today. The single USB cable provides the power/sound and no drivers are needed. Also, the sound is very rich with a little bass, perfect combo of the 2 imho.

I also had an Acer laptop once, but found the sound was never very good on it. That's a good solution, it's actually quite unobtrusive as well.

Another thing I've often found with laptops, is that the built in mics can be really quite awful, loud fan noise, head in a bucket sound, etc. I often need to record spoken materials for my classes. I did try using a headset, but found it sounded too tinny for my liking

So I always use a Blue Snowflake. Blue Microphones | Snowflake - Head and Shoulders Above Any Comparable Portable USB on the Market! a portable USB studio quality condenser mic. This has great audio quality, but they're not particularly cheap, not outrageously expensive either(usually less than $100 USD). Also because it's USB, it's not relying on whatever cheapo noisy sound chip that might be inside the laptop or PC.

I am a fan of the M-audio Transit. Although its not great on Win 7 as it was designed with XP in mind.

Its a portable ("Credit card sized") USB soundcard. Than can plug anything into that with optical or 3.5mm jack, including bluetooth connectivity
