Porting my number from VMUSA

So, in light of the announcement today, my wife and I decided we wanted to move to the Nexus 4. After a bit of research, I think that SimpleMobile would be the best choice for us.

Don't get me wrong. If I could get a Nexus 4 and stay on VMUSA, I would. We both love the service we've gotten over the last year. I love my EVO V 4G, but she's starting to despise her LG slider, which is part of the reason for the switch.

What I'm looking for is to port our numbers to SimpleMobile. Does anyone have any experience in porting from VM? Also, in SM's FAQ, this is really all they say about it:

Yes, porting from all carriers is supported. Just make sure to request a phone number transfer at time of initial activation.

Any thoughts or tips?

I have not tried SimpleMobile, but I have ported away from Virgin before. I usually call first to make sure I have all of my info written down. I ask for my...I believe it is account number, too. This has helped because sometimes the company I transferred to needed that info, and I was able to give it to them right away, instead of waiting for them to try to get the information from VM.
