my verizon contract end date was listed as 3/22/14. My billing cycle ends 3/23.

when i log into my verizon now under contract it was changed and now shows
month to month.

my question is can i port today or should i wait till tomorrow. im concerned if i port tomorrow and it doesnt complete by end of day and it finalizes on the 24 I will have started a new bill cycle and the way i understand verizon they will charge for the entire month. so $100 for a 25th month in which i will not use the service at all.

for those who have been through this what say you? thanks
 
but can i do it now, today saturday. or should i wait till tomorrow and do it?

the contract end date was today the 22nd.
 
I would call Verizon to ask just to be sure. I would say if your account online shows month to month then today should be good.
 
Today should be just fine. Because once the port goes through, it automatically ends the service with Verizon. (at least that's what happened, when I port to Verizon from sprint.)
 
okay so i know im over thinking this but its scary dealing with these companies because they have poorly trained people who make mistakes, but the fine print and lawyers will always make sure the company gets there money.

I found my reciept from the online purchase and its dated the 21st. so a 2 year contract ended at close of business on the 21 which is why they state end date as 22 meaning the first day you are free.

I called verizon and their cs person said im free to port my number today.
still may wait till tomorrow to be safe im in no rush. just need to have my port completed tomorrow as its my last day in the bill cycle.
 
i have the moto g (new unlocked phone - not the one i used with VW) and plan to port to H2O. I have the sim card.

You may want to port today. Usually it takes a few hours, but sometimes up to 24 hours so porting tomorrow could mean not completeing until a new billing cycle.
 
for anyone following this. I decided to port that day saturday. everything went well. took 4-5 hours and im now back up and running on the moto g. so far so good.
Verizon $100 now with H2O wireless for $30. thats value.
