Root Porting roms from carrier to carrier

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069850

There is a miuiv5 rom which is on some chinese carrier...on xda i found a forum on porting roms through different carriers but it is for the s3 would this method or one like it work for the vs920? Has anyone tried this?

Im going to give it a go just wanted to know if anyone knew anything about it.

I don't know too much about it, but I didn't think there was *that* much that was carrier specific in the rom if they both use sim cards. Maybe the apns? If the other carrier doesn't use a sim card or uses a different type I imagine there would be quite a bit coded into the rom though.

Good luck though.

It's not the carrier, so much as its getting the device to work with the rom. The device specific files rend to require some work/coding to work on a port/kang, unless you're doing one from the same manufacturer.

Ports are tough on our device. It's not as easy as a Motorola device.

Yeah i posted and flashed this rom back in april...it only had 3g and sent my phone into roaming i want it to function with verizon network
