possible new s3 owner

Hi all i'm a UK iPhone 4s user. Im looking at getting a s3 but there is a few things that are putting me off.

I don't like how you cant turn individual notifications off, i cant be dealing with having my phone beeping whenever someone comments on like my Facebook, but then i like to have my eBay notifications on. Is there a app for this?

I don't like how the SMS tone is the same as the email and all the other notifications. Is there a app for this?

My iPhone is jail-broken and i like to change the themes and find it very easy to do, how easy is it to do on the s3?

I think that was all that was putting me off getting one, thank you

I'm not to sure about individual notifications but if you don't want ebay notifications then I think you either just turn them off or don't run the ap.
And you can change notifications tones for all your different email accounts, text, gmail, etc. They don't have to be the same. I think you can set ring tones for specific callers also.
What I do know about is themes. Maybe not so easy on the stock phone but if you run a launcher like go launcher then it is very easy to change themes and there are a lot of them out there. All free.
Like any phone it has it's quirks but overall I am happy with it. If I knew then what I know now I would buy it again.

All of the issues you cite are easily solved by changing either system or app settings. I think you'll find that many of the things that led you to jailbreak your iPhone are easily configured in the Android OS.

Yes indeed you can set individual notifications for absolutely anything on the s3. Even running stock android you will find it way better and with more options for customising than a jailbroken iPhone.

Thank you all for your replies. It's just horrible when you get a new phone and you've no idea how to customise it to your own requiments.

Notifications are configured on an app by app basis. You can choose to set your Facebook app's notification to silent, your email to use one notification sound and your message app to use another notification sound.

There are apps for that. I personally use a third party launcher called Nova Prime. You can control different aspects of your phone such as colour, transition effects, animations, etc.

The S 3 is totally customizable with a huge range of bleeps and tones OR NONE for just about every app. This is why people talk about IOS being easier to use straight out of the box. For my part I love the fact that with Android your phone can be set up just for you.

Looks like I'll have to buy myself one now and give it a go. What is the difference with a s3 and s3 4g LTE
The 4g LTE version is capable of much fatser download and upload speeds on a fourth generation netwrok - but in the UK only the EE network has 4g at the moment and only in a limited number of cities. Its also pretty expensive. If you are signing up for a 2 year contract it might be worth getting the LTE version to protect yourself in the future as the networks develop but then I'm not sure how good it'll be even in 2 years time, afterall we don't even have 3g everywhere yet! The standard S3 works fine on all uk networks and itswhat most of us UK buyers have as the LTE version is new over here. I'm on the Three network and I'm more than happy with the speeds I get.

I moved across from the apple world after being with theiphone ever since the iphone 3G. I say make the switch and give it a go. I was an apple fanboy - I'll admit it - but my eyes have been opened and I have to admit I've lost the apple love somewhat now I know what else is out there. Put it this way, my next tablet to replace my ipad is likely to be a nexus 7 or 10 and not another ipad, so that says it all!

So if I was to buy a s3 from lets say Carphone warehouse would it be a 4g LTE? I to am a fanboy and have had iPhone from the 3GS I also have apple tv, kids have iPod touchs, gf has a 4s too. I'll be a outcast if I get a s3 haha. Iv been looking at 3 but I don't like contracts with them being 24 months now it's a long time. I'm currently on giffgaff and I'm having a good experience with them.
