Possible to change Carriers?

Ok, I have searched this site and didn't find any information outside of Sprint/Virgin Mobile concerns.

I've been sifting through Google for the better part of 2 hours and all i can find is information for other phones, and even then nothing concrete.

I have a Sprint Intercept, I'm from the US (Florida to be exact) but I am moving to Belize (next one down from mexico) obviously I am not going to pay sprint $2 a minute to call people, but I'd rather not have a paper weight either. (Or shell out $600 for a new Intercept down here)

So what I want to know is, if i root the phone, can i change the ROM over to a new carrier? If so, what information do i need to do it?

It may be possible to flash the phone to a MVNO like Boost, but I've yet to see someone flash to a foreign provider. Does Belize even have CDMA coverage? Probably better to sell your Intercept locally and buy a phone in your new home. Good luck with your move!

sorry for the long wait for a reply. they do in fact have CDMA coverage here, tho it kinda sucks, but i have seen other android phone down here as well as iphones. are all android phones CDMA or are some GSM?

I suspect that you like me have a 2 year obligation with Sprint, have you contacted them on getting out of your contract? They may have hardship clauses to allow you to get out of it, but I suspect they will want payment for the phone.

You can cut & run, but might have an issue should you come back.
