Possible to takeover someones Verizon Unlimited Data Plan?

I know I missed the boat on getting Verizon's unlimited data plan since that deadline has already passed. I currently have Sprint and have been very happy with the service here (but no 4G at my house and not so good service whenever I travel). I have a cheap grandfathered plan that to this point I've been unwilling to give up. I have a friend of mine that currently has Verizon with an unlimited data plan and his contract is about to be up soon.

It got me to thinking, is it possible for me to switch his plan to my name and takeover his plan? Since I've had my number with Sprint for quite some time (it used to be a Verizon number actually), I'd obviously want to take it with me. I'm sure it probably would be too complicated if it was even possible. But would we be able to somehow switch my number to his Verizon plan and his number to my Sprint plan and switch ownership?

I know i'm really pushing it here, just thought it was worth a shot. I didn't know if a transfer of ownership was done if a new plan has to be signed.

Anyways, any thoughts would be great, I thought it was worth a shot!

No. Data is not a "plan", its a feature meaning it can be added to/removed from a plan but currently cannot standalone. there is rumor of Verizon bringing back data only plans for select smartphones but.........

Nope. I am a recently "retired" VZW customer service rep that was in a corporate store. This is the deal. The only way to keep it is if you leave the plan in their name. To put it in your name, they perform an AOL (assumption of liability), this is basically ending the account in the other persons name, starting an account in yours, and moving the line over.

The problem is that when the plan leaves one account and goes to the other, you lose any "retired" plans and features, including unlimited data. This is also true with promotional plans ($20 tablet plan and $15 150mb data plan). Sorry, but it is going to be hard to keep unlimited, it's okay though, you probably don't need it.

Thanks for the scoop on this. I was told by my corporate rep that corporate plans exempt *all* smartphones from 4G data caps (i.e., all are unlimited data), even if they are recent/new (as opposed to the grandfathering that applies only to unlimited 4G plans initiated before July 10th 2011). Is this true? I'm wondering because I want to plug my 4G phone into my router at home and share the unlimited data with my household, but I'm worried that if I add a new phone to use for this purpose later, it won't be unlimited. (I understand that for consumer accounts, this would be the case, but mine is corporate and I want to verify that what I was told is accurate). Thanks again!
