Help Post-factory reset, internal memory photo recovery

adrkey

Lurker
I have a Samsung galaxy S5 Verizon (lollipop (i hate it at blame the world's woes on it)). The phone entered a boot loop ( i think that is what it is called, it would constantly reset, give me ~10s of use time, then restart). I tried most things short of a factory reset. I then gave in to the idea that I would be able to recover data afterwards since a factory reset only removes the tags to the data so its still there (apparently i'm wrong IDK). SO here I am with an untouched post factory reset phone. I have tried many many many recovery programs both on my PC and phone. I have tried about 7 different programs that all failed equally. I am at a loss. I had many photos on there that I want. Come Monday a new phone shall arrive (warranty) and I will send the old one back (so i don't think rooting is an option). I can wait a few days of course, but eventually I will have to send it.

Please, o please
HELP

Hi

After a factory data reset, the data is deleted - like wiping a hard drive (not actually completely wiped but hard to recover). If you root the phone there are apps that may recover it - otherwise there is no way. If you need to really wipe the phone before returning it, encrypt the phone and do another factory data reset..then the remaining data is encrypted as well.

A device creates a restore point during back-ups, when you format it, everything is deleted and only what is contained in the restore point will be available. But you can try something different, I am not sure it will work, but its worth a thought. Don't use an app, rather connect your device to a computer, and then run a recovery software on it like restoring a drive. You can search for the best recovery software and download a trial version, then use it to do a deep scan. Good luck with this.
