power button won't turn off screen

on my old note 4 one short press of the power button turned the screen off (didn't lock it).

I've just got a new (refurb) one and a quick press of the power button only displays the power menu.

Is there a way to get it to blank the screen? I can't find a setting for it.

That sounds like the button's sticking. Does it display the power menu the second you press it or is there a delay like if you'd long pressed on your old handset?
