Powered speaker recommendations?

Anyone have any recommendations? Looking for some decent speakers for $40 or so to use with retired DInc as a media device. They'd be on an office, do they don't need to blow the doors off power-wise, but decent reproduction and staging would be nice, within the cost constraints, of course... I'm looking for "value" here, though, not "cheap" so I'm not looking for the bottom-layer stuff.

i'd say wowee one. it doesnt require AA or AAA battery and sound quality is best at this price range but i went with goalzero rockout speaker cuz it was made for outdoor use.

Any old Monsoon speakers one can find on E-bay...Much better sound than anything I have heard for under $200
