Plus just check other vids. Pretty simple service to use, and I believe an effective one. Not like that facebook garbage.

you can basically think of twitter tweets as public facebook statuses that are not limited to facebook.
followers - people that are subscribed to your tweets and get notified of when you post a new tweet.
lists - i haven't played around with these too much but from my understanding, they're a way to group people and recieve their tweets without having to follow them.
