Help pre-installed applications

My mobile phone is a Samsung Galaxy Ace and my question is how do I uninstall pre-installed applications which I do not use or want. These are using up memory and preventing me from downs loading and using apps that I want. I have tried tapping and dragging to the recycle bin as mentioned in the users manual with out success

Moved to the Galaxy Ace section.

You can't uninstall the preinstalled application without rooting, sorry.

Even then, you have to be careful as some of them are required for the system to work properly.
