Help Predictive Text on Racer with 2.2

Hello there,

I recently bought a ZTE Racer with 2.2 already installed on it. Everything works just fine except for the autocorrect.
All the options are ticked that say it should be up and running but it is neither up nor running.

The seller just said it was a problem with the 2.2 upgrade.

The virtual keyboard is pretty small and it's driving me insane not having any kind of text prediction.

Is there a fix for this?

That would be fantastic but, um, I'm not entirely sure I know how to do that?
(Sorry to be a noob.) If you could briefly explain how to do that, that is definitely a thing I could do.
