Prepaid Plan + Android Phone + Google Voice

I currently have a prepaid plan with IWireless (IWireless Home), and they do not use SIM cards. I do not use my phone enough to need a full plan or a data plan, and basically use it for incoming texts (datacenter) and the occasional outgoing text and phone call. I have a Google Voice account and I'm really liking the service. The only issue is that there is no easy way to make outgoing calls and outgoing SMS messages without having access to a computer... What I really want is basically a phone that has a Google Voice application that makes the process transparent to use Google Voice (which Android has). I also need a prepaid plan that uses SIM cards that would be supported by an Android enabled phone. I was originally looking at OpenMoko, but that looks like it might be even more difficult to get working.

I found this link for prepaid plans:

Prepaid cell phone plans from major carriers - CNET Reviews

TMobile has one it looks like, and I know AT&T has one (I used to use it, it has terrible service out here). Has anyone here used a similar set up?

Also, what are your suggestions for phones? I really don't care about many features other than the Google Voice app, but it would be nice to have 802.11 support as well. It looks like the HTC Magic or the HTC Touch might be what I'm after, even if they are more than what I need (I don't really care about price at this point, just monthly fees, which is why I want prepaid phones). I looked around here for phones and it's pretty unclear in my mind how these aftermarket installs work, if they are supported by Android or if they are just hacks:

Android (operating system) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So basically any input on prepaid plans that have SIM cards, and Android phones that this would work on is what information I am after. I'm pretty much a newb when it comes to phones, but I don't want to be tied down with a pricey contract to get what I want.

Thanks!

So I'm curious how this Android Google Voice app works as well. Does this require a data plan or is it strictly outgoing phone calls or SMS's?
