Help Pressing all 3 buttons starts some kind of download - how do I stop it?

My Galaxy A6 is a decent phone for my needs. It has one feature I'd like to turn off.

If I press all 3 external buttons, it starts some kind of huge download that I didn't ask for. I have to press two of them for 7 seconds to make it stop. Then the phone re-boots.

Now I don't press all 3 buttons on purpose, but sometimes they get pressed while in my belt pouch. I take the phone out, there is a blue screen saying "Download In Progress", sometimes with some small print this far-sighted person can't quite read. Also the phone is quite warm as if it's been working for a while in my pouch.

I tried modifying the pouch so the down button (right hand on/off switch) isn't as easy to press, and it happens less frequently now, but I'd like to be able to disable whatever that function is. I really don't want to download anything I haven't deliberately asked for.

Does anyone know how to disable this?

Thanks,
Bob

Is it in Download Mode? I'm not to familiar with Samsung's, but I know they have a download mode for troubleshooting and fixing and it is accessed via holding a button combination while booting. If this is the case, it isn't actually downloading anything, just waiting for further instruction. Unfortunately, AFAIK, it also isn't in a state to do calling, texting, or other phone functions.

Thanks.

I don't know if it's just in a download mode or actually downloading something. It's not asking for instructions. It does give the direction to hold the vol down and the on/off button for 7 seconds to cancel and reboot.

That sounds like download mode. Likely you are pressing the three magic buttons and one of them is power, causing the reboot and ultimately ending up in DL mode. A Samsung guru would have to let you know if there is a fix though. :(

It's Download Mode. It won't do anything unless it's plugged into a computer running Odin, etc. There's no way to disable the holding down the three buttons that activates it.

Could be a poor design with this whatever it is "pouch" you're using, if its pressing all the buttons in? Cases, if they're properly designed to fit the particular phone, should not interfere with any buttons on the phone.

Thanks.

Finding a pouch for this particular phone has been a big problem. The ones that are advertised for this phone are way too big. The phone bounces around in them. So I measured the phone and found one that fits but I ended up with this problem.

Too bad there is no way to disable it though. I put a little velcro in the bottom of pouch except for where the button on the phone is, hoping that it would be thick enough to keep the power button from being pressed, but it wasn't enough.

I'm glad it won't do anything harmful unless it's plugged into a computer running Odin, but I still need to figure out how to stop it. It must be running down the battery, and it disables the phone while in that mode. More modifications to the pouch are in my future :(

Other than that, I like the phone. It's fine for my minimal needs.

Thanks again for the help.

OK, I think it really is downloading something.

When I press all 3 buttons, as the case occasionally does this message occurs:

---------

Warning

A custom OS can cause critical problems in phone and installed applications

If yo want to download a custom OS, press the volume up key, otherwise press the volume down key to cancel

---------

Obviously the V-Up button gets pressed next because when I take the phone out of the case, it has a blue screen with "Downloading" and an arrow, along with some typed characters that look like computer instructions but are too small to read (reminds me of DOS type script - but of course this phone doesn't use DOS, it just looks the same)

Pressing the V-Down reboots the phone.

I've quite using the case, and am using one that is too large.

I guess I have to figure out a way to keep the buttons from being pressed in the case.
