Pressurized home button failure

Hey everyone. The pressurized home button on my phone has now failed twice. I can still turn on my phone with the side button and then the home button works again. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm assuming it could be an incompatibility issue with an app, but I haven't downloaded any new apps recently.

if it works at some point then the pressure sensitivity is fine on the screen.

remove any screen, cases, clear cache, remove any launchers.

obviously you didn't have the issue before, so retrace your steps to determine if you deleted something, turned off something, etc.

are you stock or rooted?
did you disable any apps?
what carrier?

have you had any recent updates?

Stock, unlocked on Verizon. I haven't added any apps recently. I haven't disabled any apps at all. I'm running Nova Launcher, but I have been since day one. No screen protector and no case interference. No updates at all since I've had the phone.

It's a hard one to test because it's only happened twice. I guess it could be the launcher, but that seems unlikely given that I've had it all along. I'll clear the cache. Thanks for the thoughts!

i use nova launcher also. ive not had any issues such that what you are describing. stock tmobile variant.

if its happened once or twice and you can't reproduce it,

it could be an app or something in the background going to sleep. maybe there's an app or system resource you've disabled or allowed to be killed when the device is sleep?

just throwing out ideas bro...

If I've disabled something, I did it when I first got the phone and this is a new problem. It's an odd one, for sure. Thanks for the thoughts!

Did you update any apps before it started? Just because you haven't installed any new apps lately it could've been an update to an existing one?

On a side note I wish I knew what caused it. I'd love to be able to stop the home button turning my screen on. Haven't been able to do that since my s5 :D

My 3 week old N8 has done this from new. The home button works fine at all times except when waking the screen with a full press. Is it software or hardware?

If the hardware works normally at other times then it's software.

Try running the phone in safe mode, which disables all user-installed apps. If it works then then the problem is something you installed, perhaps when you first got the phone. If it still doesn't then your apps are innocent (leaving system apps - unlikely as most don't have this - or some setting).
