Previous pictures not showing in Gallery

Hello,

I've got the following problem with my Samsung Note I phone and can't find a solution. Basically, my SD card run out of space and I decided to move all the pictures to my computer and delete them from the phone.

I then copied 300 of those pictures back to the phone and noticed that none of them were appearing under the Gallery app.

Things I've tried so far without success:
  1. Gallery app - clear cache + clear data
  2. Unmmount + mount SD card
  3. Power off and remove SD card and battery
  4. Rescan Media app - seems to run in the background but pics still don't appear after 10h
  5. Rescan SD app - seems to run in the background but pics still don't appear after 10h
  6. SDrescan app - just keeps spinning on the Preparing screen, doesn't seem to progress any further

Do you guys have any other idea about what I could try?

That's kinda strange ..

Dumb question, but did you put the pictures back in the same directory they were in before? It may be that the gallery only searches particular directories. Try taking a new picture. If that comes up in the gallery, see where it is and if that's where the old pictures are stored.
 
Yes, I put them back to the DCIM/Camera folder of the SDCard, which is where the new pictures taken now appear.

The strange thing is that I put like 300 old pictures there, I took a new one and Gallery displays: Camera(1), rather than Camera(301) :S
 
I copied them back exactly to the original place (sdcard/DCIM/Camera) but the Gallery app doesn't recognized any of them for whatever reason.

The strange behaviour is that if I take a new picture, this new picture is created exactly in that same location (mixed up with the old back-up pics) but that one appears under the Camera folder in the Gallery app.

As a workaround I downloaded a different app from the market, QuickPic, and that one doesn't have any problem finding all the pictures, so I think it has to be something to do with how the Gallery app indexes pictures... but running those 3 different apps that help with rescanning the SD card didn't help either.

If you guys have any other idea, just let me know and I'll give it a go. I'm quite curiouos about why this could be happening :S
