Prey Project?

I watched the demo and it looks like a decent program. I might give it a go on my Nexus S after I look into it more.

As for my laptop, I have an image of my entire drive plus backups of just my data. For security I have the BIOS password and HDD password set along with Truecrypt on the entire drive. If my laptop is stolen/lost, nobody is getting anything. :)

Thanks andruoid, I really need to start testing out using true crypt. Yout experiences that you you chronicled on trucrypt here were inspiring :) I guess I've always been a bit concerned with losing data, but I'm thinking some testing will help assuage my concerns (along with re-reading your thread on it).

Does Truecrypt cause any issues with virtualization that you know of? I just got started using VirtualBox and wondered about that since it creates a virtual disk file.

I haven't used TC on an entire disk, but I do use it. I create those container files, and encrypt those and just open em up when I need to add private data.

I would assume that as long as you have access to the drive that TC would work with virtualization.

On an interesting note, from the TC wikipedia page, it said that in Brazil the police went after a disk with TC encryption. After several months of trying to gain access, they send it to the FBI, who also gave up after about a year or so.

(* not sure how valid that story is, it was from memory of a wikipedia page... so it is what it is - but truecrypt is very impressive *)
