Price hike coming...

I was just going to link the CNET article but you beat me to it. They are just out of control. I'm so glad I have an old promo plan, no way I could afford them otherwise. Yikes.

This might end up saving me money if the rumors are true. Currently I have the 3 GB medium plan and my wife and I share it. We typically use 1.0 to 1.5 GB per month. I could drop back to the new small plan with it's 2 GB plus carry over and save $10/month.

Wow.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, generally, you guys over the pond get royally screwed when it comes to mobile phones and plans. :(

My bill goes up every year, in line with something called the Retail Price Index but for the past 2 years, that's been £0.35 and £0.40 respectively.

"If you’re already a Verizon Wireless subscriber, you’ll be given the option to remain on your current plan"

At least they are allowing you to stay on the old plan.

Would have been nice to keep a 1GB plan for $25 or $30 to attract the low data usage people.

Any word on when or if they will throttle speeds (within your data limit)? That and the fact that these plans can change again keep me on my grandfathered UDP. If there was no throttling within your data band AND they guaranteed you could maintain the plan as long as YOU want it, I might be tempted.

Not sure I understand your question about throttling, if you get a plan with 16GB of data then you get 16GB of 4G data that isn't throttled. The 'safety mode' lets you go over your 16GB but at 3G (or worse) speed, so that's what would be throttled. That's not included on every plan, but you can add it (or just buy more data if you need to).

You aren't guaranteed to be able to keep your UDP right now, they can pull the rug any time they want. I have an older plan that was a promo, they won't take it away from unless I change something, same goes for you. Unless, of course, they get cranky and force everyone to change, but I don't see that coming.
