Primary google calendar not showing

I am fairly certain this is not phone-specific, so I put it here for wider viewing.

Today I downloaded aCalendar+ (was using the free version) since it was free on Amazon. After downloading it, my calendar events disappeared. This has happened before and it was due to an update that somehow made a secondary account's calendar show, but not my primary. The fix was simply to go to accounts and uncheck the secondary account, and check my primary again. No biggie. That's not happening now, and I am wondering if the dowload is even related.

I go into aCalendar+ and go to Menu>Calendar list. This is what shows up:
(obviously I edited to remove email addresses). That account is not my primary.

If I hit the refresh icon at the top, I get this:

I check "Jessica's Primary, the holidays under my email address, and that bottom one, which is my hubby's calendar. Go back to the calendar view and nothing happens. Come back into the calendar list and it's back to looking like the first picture. What's the deal??

And now, I'm not exactly sure what I did, but they're back. Clearing Data didn't work. I could be looking at the list with all of my calendars listed and then they'd disappear. I logged in to another account on my phone (an email address I had but rarely used) and synced everything up. I was just about to create a new calendar under that login and decided to check aCalendar+ list one more time, and this time there was a notification that I didn't have the latest version of Google Calendars installed. Tapped on that and installed it, and now everything works just fine.
