Help Printing w Galaxy 10.1

Althought by it self my 10.1 is great and there are few items that I have not been able to solve.
. . .But I am not having any success in getting my 10.1 to hook up with my desktop units.
. . .I have a cheapo Canon Printer and although the USB icon in the lower rt corner says USB connected I am unable to print. Tab keeps asking for the address of the printer which I have no idea on how to obtain. (I am using 'Samsung Mobile Print').
. . . Any suggestions for better printer software?
. . .I have not been able to get the WiFi to work with my computer and I can only transfer file via USB in one direction.

I think samsung mobile print only works with samsung printers. I have a hp wifi printer and had to download the hp eprint app because the samsung app is incompatible. I am under correction here. I think it works the same as a pc in the sense that you need a driver, or app containing that specific driver for your printer to connect as a printer. Maybe have a look at a canon printer app

I tried the HP eprint, cloud print & the other app, none work. Samsung says it only works with a Samsung Printer, they are wrong. It works with other brands too. I have a HP e6520, it will print from my Galaxy s3, the printer is installed. When it go into settings it asks for a password. What password do I need? Is that my issue?
 
I use Cloudprint to print to a Canon printer attached via usb to my laptop. No drivers required. Just cloudprint installed on both android device and computer. I can even print to a PDF on my printer using Cutepdf on my laptop.
