It replaces the volume control panel entirely, so you can make it look and behave however you'd like (well, assuming that the app provides an option for it). You should be able to use the built-in Android 10 theme (which is pretty much the same as Android 11's implementation, if I'm remembering correctly) and tweak the colors to suit your preferences.

The Settings > Display > Styles & Wallpaper options on a Pixel phone let you choose what accent color should be used throughout the OS (including for the volume controls); other OEMs may implement similar options, but that's entirely up to each manufacturer to do.

I think the alternative would be rooting the phone and installing a recompiled version of the Settings.apk to add your desired colors.
