Help Problem- Contacts App

I have noticed that whenever I edit a contact by deleting a phone number category (such as the "work" number) directly on my G1, and save, a phone number is no longer displayed for that particular contact on the main contacts list. Do I need to select a "primary" number somehow, or does Android have its own rules for selecting which contacts have a number displayed along with the contact name?

you can set the default number to be displayed.

Ok, I give- how? Nothing obvious under the Menu screen...

Anyone know how to choose which phone number is displayed as primary in the contacts app? If there is only one number for a contact, is a number displayed at all?

I am with you mrhappy. I couldn't find it either. But I know that they have showed up after they were gone. Maybe after you call someone a few times at the same number it shows up. I am gonna try to pay attention to this in the future.
