Help Problem I Don't Know How to Fix.

Xureal

Lurker
I just got a replacement for my Droid2 and I'm having a strange problem: whenever I make a call, it automatically shuts the display off (doesn't disconnect the call though), and when I take it away from my ear it won't display anything still. The only way to get back from it, is to hit the power button to disconnect the call, but that locks out the phone back to the unlock screen. Any suggestions?

Hello and welcome, Xureal.

Try wiping the area near the very top of the phone, very clean. The proximity sensor is up there near the top edge and sometimes becomes obscured with grease or a film of dirt/dust.

The PS is what detects when the device is near your face/ear during a phone call, so shuts the screen off to prevent accidental invoking of an app icon on the screen.

From what I understand from previous posts about this type of issue a factory reset might be the only option....then if that doesn't work bring it back to the shop as faulty.

There is a setting so that the power button won't disconnect the call.

Settings/Accessibility/Power button ends call (uncheck).

You might also try just opening the keyboard.
