Help Problem installing apps using my PC

OK I just heard that the Android Market is accessible from PCs... so I went to the website and tried installing an app but nothing happenned. I tried several free apps but again nothing happenned. Is the app supposed to directly install on the phone? And yes, I have signed in to my Google account on the webiste and I have the Talk app running on my phone.

Thanks for the help.
 
no need for the talk app to run (not related)
but weird, try getting chrome to phone from the market and see if it's related or not
