Apps "Problem parsing package" on a rooted device, custom built APK

Hi,

I am building a private application that I generate through Android studio, I then but the apk on dropbox and download it directly on the devices (Minix neo X7 mini) that need it. It's been working like a charm until I needed a silent auto-update on that app, which I am planning on doing using www.push-link.com

But for that, I need my devices to be rooted. I've installed a ROM that seems to work just fine (this one), but I can't manage to install the app anymore. I'm always facing that "There is a problem parsing the package" issue.
What I've tried:

- Allow unknown sources is set
- Tried to install from downloaded file, from file on SD card, from file on USB stick. Tried to move the file to /data but facing a permission denied
- USB debugging set, but the device doesn't show up on adb so I can't manage to install it through ADB. Not sure why...

My question : Does anybody know a way I could install that app easily? I'm starting to feel like I've tried everything. Or simply, how to change the permissions of that file?

I just don't understand how as root, I don't have permission to use it.

Thanks !
