Hello, ive been going through your thread and I feel that you can help me better than anyone else! I have a HTC amaze and was upgrading and thought I would back up all the contacts on gmail. I thought this is automatically done when i click on sync, but only my calendars and reminders are synced. So i exported a file, connected my cell to my laptop, and imported the file. The problem is that only email addresses came, and no contact numbers. Also, when i synced again from my HTC it went into reverse and I lost all the contacts in my phone! Any advice as to how to retrieve and then back up on gmail? many thanks

Welcome to the guest forums! Thanks for the compliment, we try.

If the Amaze is your old phone:
If you still have your Amaze, this should be easy. First, put it onto airplane mode.
Next, in Settings - Accounts and Sync - go to your google email address and select it
Make sure that Sync Contacts is checked.
Now take your phone out of airplane mode and select wifi.
The contacts and phone numbers should be there.

If the Amaze is your new phone:
Can you open that .csv file that you saved from your phone? It should open in excel. Are there phone numbers in it? That file doesn't need to be put on your phone, it should be imported into Googles contacts database. There are several tutorials on the Contacts page that show how to do this.
