Help problem with dialer

Lurker
If I put the phone to my ear to make a call the screen switches off as it is meant to. The problem is that if it is the type of call where one has to select from a multiple choice the keyboard doesn't reappear when I take the phone away from my ear. The same is true when ending a call. The only way to get the keyboard back is to press the power button twice and then use the fingerprint scanner. Is this right?

I have been through that scenario too many times, and I only found "one way" to fix the problem.

Use a BT headset and the dialer will stay open for the duration of the call ( or lock screen timeout )

my lockscreen is set to 10 minutes because I do a LOT of business calls, and have to wind my way through 14 steps of "computer assisted" routings.....

I also installed exDialer because it will allow you to enter the 1st three characters of a name and then it displays the contact entries that match that name. A hell of a lot faster than any Contact list.

Yes well I I've got around it by switching to speaker phone so I don't have to put it to my ear but that rules out any privacy - I don't think extending the dwell time before the lock screen kicks in will make any difference as this has got more to do with the device that senses the angle of the screen I think. Maybe not sensitive enough?

Problem solved. I had fitted a glass screen protector. As soon as I removed it the problem went away. It seems the proximity sensor can't handle the extra later of glass.
