Help Problem with notification shade

Sometimes I can't pull down my notification shade from the top of the screen. This happens in TouchWiz and Nova. I also sometimes (rarely) have a problem using the settings button at the top of the screen once I do get the notification shade down. I touch it, but nothing happens. Anyone else having this issue?

By the way, there's a quick fix for it that works for me, but there's obviously something wrong.

Here it is for someone having the issue who wants the quick fix: go into settings -> display -> status bar -> untick and retick both options.

Are you using any screen protector? That's a possible cause
No, I'm not. I do know that screen protectors and magnetic cases can cause problems, but I'm not using either. Thanks for the reply, though!

Bump - anyone else having this issue? It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it's very annoying!

Does this only happen when you're holding it, or does it happen when it's flat on the table, too? My only thought is that with the infinity display it's very easy to inadvertently register a touch on one of the edges of the screen. This would make things like swipes and zooms not work properly. A poorly fitting case could do the same thing.

No, it can happen without me holding it and without a case. It has happened three or four times so far. I'm assuming that there's an app interfering with it somehow. Thanks for the reply, though!

I have a Galaxy Tab A that get's stuttery like this when it's doing updates, but it's an underpowered little device and I'd expect a Note 8 to be much speedier.

Hi. I have a Cerberus account installed in my phone. I've erroneously turned off my phone while in locked mode. Now it is under fake shutdown. I can't recover it now from the website. Everytime I try to do so, a message appears saying "Problem communicating with your device". What should I do?

First thing I'd do is contact Cerberus to see if there is a workaround. I've never used it so I couldn't begin to tell you what systems are affected by "fake shutdown" or even tell you what that is.
