Problem with the Gallery

Jeff5722

Lurker
Here's what's going on....
I have all my photos stored in the DCIM folder on the internal memory.

I have 'private' photos stored on the SD card in a file labeled .nomedia

The way this is, is the gallery doesn't recognize the photos in the .nomedia folder, which is the point.

NOW, here's the problem... When I download a photo, from say a text message, it stores it in the handcent download folder on the internal memory. I click on the picture, and select 'move', then bring it to the .nomedia folder on the sd card. But, by doing that, it creates thumbnails for the entire .nomedia folder in the DCIM folder on the internal memory. Follow me?

Then what I have to do is delete the thumbnails I don't want in there, but then it leaves blank spots in the gallery. Its annoying.

Why is it doing this? alternatives?

thanks.

Hi Jeff5722
Thats the one thing thats sort of annoying with Gallery and how android system handles files.. seem so fragented. theres suppose to be an app on the market (I've chatted with the developer on xda).

Gallery Exclude suppose to give you more control of how to include/exclude files and/or folders from being accessed in the Gallery. It works but seem to be a continuing work in progress.

Wouldn't hurt to give it a try..

Click Pic

You might want to give quickpic a try to see if it helps, much faster than the stock gallery and would probably help with the leaving blank spots bit.

I'm not sure if I follow 100%, but I use "KeepSafe" for the nudey pics of my gf, after almost showing them to a buddy at work, lol. You set a PIN to acess it and it is completely independent of the gallery. That might be another option for you maybe?

I downloaded quickpic, Im not sure why no one told me to download that years ago. Its so much faster and better than the stock gallery.
But now, how do I get rid of the stock gallery? someone could easily go on that to look at pictures.

thanks guys

Hey Jeffrey! Ive never heard of that app either, cool! I think you cant delete gallery because is is stock. Maybe if you root the device you can remove it. But for now, you can find your "hide from drawer" setting and add the app to this list and it womt show up in your app drawer.
