I "rooted" my MyTouch 3G (unlocked on AT&T) and messed with a couple different ROMs, always wiping first (my mother taught me that). I've tried only the "allegedly" solid ROMs that have been download many times before and get postive writeups.
I mainly want to ROOT because I want to run Titanium Backup which only works on a rooted phone. I really don't care much about all the added features of the new ROM but of course they are a plus.
Problem is, I have constant problems with any ROM I have loaded. like lockups, reboots, intermittent loss of A2DP audio, slow menus etc. Really annoying stuff. I'm only running a few apps (DogCatcher podcast app, power manager to create power profiles and K-9 email client).
I "unrooted" and went back to stock 1.6 and everything runs flawlessly (except I can't backup with Titanium Backup).
Are these issues "normal" for rooted roms? Is there a way to ROOT a MyTouch 3G and continue to use the stock 1.6 firmare without any mods to it? What I am asking is if there a "rooted" version of the standard MyTouch 3G 1.6 software so I can have a rooted phone without all the extras and the problems I have been having?
