Problems with Google Voice input

Nolablue

Newbie
I've noticed lately that Google Voice input has changed lately and not for the better. It used to underline words that it didn't seem sure were correct and if it was wrong, I could touch the word and similar sounding words would drop down in a short menu. I don't know what happened, but it no longer does that. If it hears me wrong, I have to close the Google Voice input screen and activate my keyboard to correct it, which kinda defeats the purpose of using the GVI. Also, it often gets "hung up" when I activate it; as in, it doesn't immediately respond or respond at all. I have to touch to turn it off and back on before it will respond to what I'm saying.

What can I do to correct these problems?

OP can you please tell me what the Google App Version you are using.
I am currently on Google App Version 5.7.14.19arm64
It seems to me that this is Google's new concept with their most recent update as of December 14, 2015.
When did you start noticing this different behavior?
As for as the "hung up" goes that is most likely to be Google's Network Issue.
Which has nothing to do with your phone or carrier.

Someone else I know discovered similar problems on older versions of Android and one solution was to activate Google Search again. I looked for that on the current version of Android that I have (5.1.1) and see that it's gone. I'm assuming the Google App you speak of is what I updated instead just a short while ago. I searched in Google Play for Google Search and the first result was an app called just 'Google'.

I thought it just started happening within the last two months since I switched from LG back to Samsung, but now I'm not entirely sure. :( I think I may be losing my mind. lol

Lol... Do not worry OP yes it is now called just Google.
And I believe that it is normal behavior now.
I am telling you, now a days the concepts are suppose to be for the better but sometimes they fail...

So it's now the norm for the voice-to-talk to just type out whatever it thinks you said and not give options to correct it within the text without deactivating the VTT and activating the keyboard to correct? :(

Yes OP that is the new concept for Google App.
Good Luck and a good tip I will give you is keep your device about 8 inches away from you and the part of your mic for best results!
Enjoy!
