Help Problems with Samsung Kies

Hi all,
I've just bought my first android phone, a Samsung Galaxy Ace.
I'm trying to transfer files from my PC to my phone, but my PC doesn't recognize my phone. I read in another forum that I have to download Kies, so I did !

Kies downloaded successfully and it seemed to install successfully also, the problem occurred when i tried to open Kies. Every time I try to open Kies, it tells me 'Kies has stopped working.. problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available'

I'm running Windows Vista. So far I have found no solution to the problem, I have uninstalled and re-installed Kies many time now and I'm starting to get tired of it!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Try running KIES as administrator..
As it is KIES is crap.

During the installation of Samsung Kies I get 25 diverse .dll registration problems. I tried to a uninstall and and install it again for many times but the problem always appears. Could anyone suggest me something to solve this ? I would appreciate it very much. Thanks !

Anyway, I use windows vista (SP2).

Uninstall KIES. Restart the computer.
Then open command prompt as administrator (click start>type cmd>right click on it and presssrun as administrator)
In cmd type "sfc /scannow" without quotes and press enter. It will fix all dll issues.

Well, I was having the same problem and I had come across your post when I was looking for help on it.

I was using Windows Vista Home Premium with SP1 then. And then I happened to install the 300-something MB SP2 for Windows and then I started Samsung Kies with the administrator setting, and it did not generate the error message "Kies has stopped working...". I was able to connect my smartphone and all is working now.

Also, I have Windows XP Pro somewhere, probably with SP2, and Samsung Kies works there.
 
If its only for syncing contacts/sms/notes/appointments/music etc then Maybe you should also try out MyPhoneExplorer http://www.fjsoft.at/en/ as I have mentioned elsewhere in this forum it can do everything except update the firmware & visit samsung apps :D
 
Hello,
I donno from when my Kies stopped working. But now when I open it it throws the Kies Stopped working error. Snapshot attached.
1) I tried changing the version from 4.0 to 3.5 in kies.exe.config - Didnt work
2) Removed Microsoft .NET framework (2 items) from control panel
3) Uninstalled Kies and Reinstalled Kies
4) Even tried Reinstalling older version of Kies.
5) Removed the line "<supportedRuntime version="v3.5" />" completely as per "http://ramspensieve.blogspot.in/2011/11/fix-samsung-kies-crash-on-windows-7.html" - Even this didnt work.

Is there something else installed in my system which prevents Kies to work?
Please help.
