Problems with the OS

Recently I came across a problem when I went to download termux it could only operate on Android 5.0 or newer but my device is only at 4.4.2 so it wont work on mine. I heard that if you rooted your device you could install a newer version but I couldn't find out how to does anybody have a guide to installing a newer version? If possible one that doesn't have to hook up with a computer. I've got a samsung galaxy tab 3 with SDcard

I think I ound out the issue I need to unlock the bootloader the only problem is i can find anywhere that tell me how to for my device model. I have a samsung galaxy tab 3 SM-T217S and the provider is sprint.

Sprint version Samsung? I've read on AF that those can very difficult, maybe impossible to root, unlock the bootloader, modify, etc. Apparently same with Verizon version Samsungs.

I couldn't find a way to unlock my bootloader on my Samsung Galaxy tab 3 SM-T147S is it possible to run a virtualized desktop on my tablet?

You mean run a virtual Android 5 machine on an old 4.4.2 tablet? I've never heard of anyone trying that, probably because you always require the device running the VM to be much more powerful than the device it is emulating, so emulating a newer android on an older android device is going to be a painful experience (and hence not much in demand).
