Problems with TouchPal Keyboard.

Droid Razr Maxx
Android 2.3.6
TouchPal keyboard v4.8.6

Hi folks.
I just recently made the smartphone plunge. I tried several keyboard options and settled on TouchPal (love it so far). All went well for few days and suddenly my keyboard went from grey to essentially black. It appears to me that the skin changed. I had never even attempted to change it as I was happy with the grey that loaded when I first installed.

The black is crazy hard for me to see at time so I went into the TouchPal Keyboard settings, general settings, skin. There is only the Black skin (default?) showing and "more". Highlighting "more" gives me a "download" button and clicking on that gives me a nice selection of skins. Clicking on the "download" button on the "classicpack" skin throws my to a website, and after a moment I am told that the download is complete.

My notifications at the top of my phone shows "ClassicPack-X.apk download complete" (where "X" is the number of times I've downloaded that particular file).

Now, when I go back to the "skin" section of the settings, nothing has changed - there are still no other skins available.

It doesn't matter what skin I download, it doesn't matter how many times I download them. They simple don't show up as a skin option.

Suggestions?
Thanks
JB

ETA:

Forgot to mention that I have already uninstalled TouchPal Keyboard and reinstalled more than once. Still black keys and still no way to select a downloaded skin.

Thanks
JB

As an update to anyone having a similar problem with TouchPal, I downloaded a App called "Installer" by Rhythm Software. This allowed me to install the .apk skin files that I had downloaded from Cootek and delete the multiples I had also downloaded.

I have no idea why the TouchPal App itself was downloading the .apk files but not installing them.

Now the skins show and are selectable.

General Sometimes some of the APP needs to manually go to settings, full touch screen keyboard feel like a physical keyboard or not use handy.
