Problems with touchscreen

Got my pixel 2xl yesterday. I've had some time to play with the phone. Mostly playing golf clash so far. The touch screen has had some issues while in gameplay. I had to reboot the phone. I am noticing the screen is super sensitive at times and the touch screen stops working others. Is anyone else having these problems?

Have you applied a screen protector to it? Because occasionally they can cause problems.
