Here you go Julie :) I did a factory reset but this will work just as well. Let me know if it worked for you. also I recommend just using Gmail only to sync your contacts. I posted how to do that below (but you probably already know)

From member INTREPID-NY:

1) Be sure to have all your contacts backed up to your Gmail account. Check online before proceeding to step 2.

2) Log into your My Verizon account. Go to the contacts tab, sort by list view and select all contacts. Delete the entire list. There's a deleted contacts tab as well. Select that and delete anything that's in there.

3) Go into your settings tab, select applications, manage applications. Do not sort or filter, allow list to populate. Select Sync Service, (icon resembles backup assistant icon) select clear data.

4) Also in manage applications scroll down to backup assistant, select clear data. This should do it.

5) To verify backup assistant is now disabled, select settings, accounts and sync, then under manage accounts, select backup assistant. You should be looking at a license agreement screen.

No more backup assistant, no factory reset.

How to Sync Contacts with Gmail:

On your phone goto: Menu, Settings, Accounts and Sync, Put a checkmark in Background data and Auto-sync.

THEN, Select your google account at the bottom (under Manage Accounts), put a checkmark in Sync Contacts and the other boxes (as desired). You probably should select to sync them all (contacts, gmail and calendar).

Well you probably don't want to hear this but instead of spending a whole lot of time trouble shooting what apps may be causing the problem I would do a factory reset and don't choose to use the BU Assistant when you set up the device.

I've heard of IMAP being the issue as well. You may try deleting the hotmail account, reboot and see if that fixes your problem before doing a factory reset.

If Hotmail causes the problem you can just set it up to forward to gmail and be done with it. If deleting it doesn't fix the problem then I would factory reset.

Lastly when you are all booted up after reset you can install all your apps with the exception of pulse, opera and vevo and run it for a full day. Then tomorrow add 1 and test it for a day. If no issues add the next one and test for a day and so on.

This is how you do a factory reset. It's for the Bionic but it's the same thing. Please report back your findings and what fixed it.

Yes. Corp/IMAP email acounts SEEM to be the culprit but a variety of Android devices have seen this issue. Don't install Hotmail either for a couple of days :)

yup hard reset fixed the issue. The native email app was the culprit. downloaded the hotmail app and using the gmail app. reinstalled all other apps... no issues so far.
