I am new to android and someone told me i should download a task kill program... Can some one explain what a task kill progran does, how it works and the settings.....

Task killer keeps your phone running at peak speeds by killing all the tasks that may be running in the background and using up memory that needs to be free. its great! I have it and its one touch (the widget) and it kills everything. Just hit the homescreen button after that and youre back to running light.

What happens if you accidently kill a program u need i.e contacts or something along those lines, also how to you stop taskiller

Well if you're using contacts or doing something I don't see why you would want to kill it at that moment. It kills it from running not being accessed. The one touch kill is an option. In the actual app you can also go in and choose which to kill and which to keep active.
