Project emerald!

ya this has been circuilating for a while, I say Boring yawn yawn yawn. They should have put hspa+, ffc, and flash on the vibrant, it would have been a super phone. Instead they made it half ass, and now this g1 blaze is half ass too, with its slow processor.

I still rather have the vibrant with working GPS.

Not too terribly exciting. If the MyTouch HD is running on the espresso UI it will undoubtedly bloat the phone with those ugly cube icons and tons of pre-installed apps like myfaves.

I actually preferred the MyTouch Slide over the Vibrant because it was a lot snappier and had a keyboard, if the MyTouch HD has a keyboard its game over. I'd definitely get it then wait for some good roms to cook up.

Not getting excited about the HTC Vision. Only a WVGA display? Only a 1Ghz processor? What makes this phone different from any other?

I expected one of these phones to have that "new screen technology" or more powerful processor.

Project Emerald is a disappointment then...

According to the article the Sidekick project has been pushed to next year, I was interested to see how it would turn out.

If this is all T Mobile has to pick up steam and get back into the competition I can really see them going out of business.

RIP project Emerald.

Everyone expected really something amazing, it's how it was pumped up months ago. But it appears as just one more BS.

Personally after broken promises for superfast 4G EVO and full of cheap hardware cr@p HD2 i will not touch anything from HTC.

I had one month tests for HD2 and EVO. EVO 4G drains your battery from 4 hours to one day just lying on the table doing nothing. HD2 has cheap camera and video hardware as if it was taken from some city waste land. Yuck...

And by the way if you have HSPA+ in your place for example Vibrant gets 5.3mbps/1.3mbps DL/UP and gets you twice the battery life. I've got just 2.4 mbps on EVO. Also, Vibrant's standby time is nothing short of amazing, the one week is minimum. And you get 8+ hours of DivX on its full brightness SuperAMOLED display, and 6+ hours browsing almost like on iPhone4 which because it is closed soft/hardware is optimized to the maximum. Due to faster then HD2/EVO/iPhone4 processor games on Vibrant also are silky smooth

Next BIG THING must be
- dual core processor
- 1280x800 display
- 1080p recording
- 3D

which means 1-2 more years. If hackers will make this cellphone boot regular desktop Windows 7 in some virtual configurations then it will be "Project Super-Emerald". Anyone wants anything more then that :) ? Meantime we will be perfectly OK with the Vibrant.

I'm starting to think when T Mobile talked about an upcoming device with a new screen technology they meant the Vibrant. I just don't see them releasing anything with completely new screen technology this year.

Could you explain stand by time? Does that just mean unplugged and unused? My phone was left unplugged last night and was down from 83% to 35% when I woke up.

Did you have bluetooth, wifi or GPS turned on? Anything else? That doesn't sound right. If I go to bed with 100% I wake up with 90-93%.

check you apps, i have noticed some games will continue to run in the background when you back out of it. you'll have to open that game, go to the menu and hit exit. i do that with all the apps i use... at least the ones that give you the exit option. before i go to bed every night, i'll usually check my running apps, and make sure there isn't anything that shouldn't be running left opened. i usually have a live wallpaper, my weatherbug, two clocks, and two battery widgets left opened. i'll lay down with my battery at 100%, and wake up with it at 97-99%. i don't know if it's just my phone, or if it's me checking on my apps, but the battery life lasts for me, that is until i start using a million apps at the same time. oh yeah, and i usually leave gps on, but shut off the wifi. i haven't ever noticed gps using much power, and there's no reason to shut if off if you close all the apps that use gps.
