Project Fi Compatibility?

Has anyone tried to use Project Fi with the Moto Z2 Play? I love my 6P and love it even more on Fi, but it is aging and will need to be replaced soon. Really not a fan of how expensive the Pixel line is, so I'm looking at the Z2 Play. I know it is not officially supported on Fi and I will lose visual voicemail and network switching, but can anyone confirm it at least works and is functional? I have heard that using Fi on non-supported devices can be buggy at best. I can deal with some bugs, but if it just flat-out doesn't work, that's going to be a deal breaker. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

This is just some educated guesses...

I doubt that it works properly if at all with FI ... The Moto z2 Play was originally released as a locked for for ATT and/or Verizon ( and possibly Sprint ) and only recently have I seen unlocked versions ( GSM only though ) available on places such as Amazon.

However... you may want to look at the Moto X4 which is a supported device and the differences between it and the Z2 Play are minimal

I use my unlocked (bought from motorola) on Fi.

You only get service on T-Mobile just like any non-approved Fi device.

rdsok, z2 play was originally a Verizon exclusive with knowledge that it would be released unlocked and comparable with all 4 major carriers. Both *should* work, but the unlocked one definitely works since I'm using it because I like it better then my pixel, and my Note 8 is dead until the next software is released due to my stupidity.
